Clinical Research APPS

Our Mission

The mission of clinicalresearch-apps.com is to provide researchers actively engaged in clinical and translational research, as well as those in the basic sciences, with free, easy-to-use Shiny applications to enhance the methodological rigor and reproducibility of their studies. The development and dissemination of our applications emerged from a unique collaboration between faculty, staff, and student interns in the Center for Biostatistics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and the National Center for the Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) funded Mount Sinai Translational Science Hub (5UL1TR001433), also known as ConduITS. We welcome researchers across all stages of their careers to use our applications to enhance their research. Lastly, if you enjoy our applications, please spread the word by citing clinicalresearch-apps.com and our applications in your publications, grant proposals, presentations, etc. Thank you in advance.

RRApp (Robust Randomization App)

RRApp was developed to provide junior clinical investigators in academic medicine with a free, user friendly, online resource to generate reproducible randomization schemes that can easily be implemented in REDCap for their clinical trials. It additionally serves as an educational resource for early stage investigators to learn about the importance of randomization in clinical trials and directs users to useful resources to help them easily navigate the app and also determine which of the six randomization techniques available through RRApp would be most appropriate for their studies. RRApp has since been utilized by both early stage and senior clinical and translational researchers with and without advanced statistical expertise. To learn more, click here.

PlateDesigner

PlateDesigner helps researchers carry out well designed microplate experiments. Proper experimental design including blocking and randomization of experimental samples and conditions will help minimize unwanted bias and control for potential plate or batch effects. To learn more, click here.

Center for Biostatistics

The Center for Biostatistics at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) reflects the Institutional commitment to advancing interdisciplinary translational and patient-oriented research by providing state-of-the-art statistical support to investigators. The Center’s mission is to promote excellence in all aspects of clinical research by using highly innovative statistical methodologies to support all phases of the planning, implementation, conduct and analysis of clinical studies. The Center also offers outstanding teaching and training for individuals who want to pursue a career in biostatistics or clinical research.
